Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) consist of three important amino acids, such as, leucine,valine and isoleucine. These have shown to boost muscle mass by stimulating muscle functionality, reduce muscle fatigue and enhance mental alertness; and lessen muscle soreness right after exercise by lowering the amount of muscle damage (i.e., the period of recovery through DOMS can be shortened). These could also help in the preventing of muscle wasting since BCAAs account for one-third of necessary amino acids in muscle healthy proteins.
